Atoms are not destroyed in chemical processes. In both cases, the atoms formed molecules that are souble in water, so they exist in solution. Evaporating the water would leave a solid residue containing most of the atoms, with any unaccounted for having escaped into the atmosphere as volatile products or tiny drops of liquid entrained carried with water vapor.
