Will 2009 be remembered as the Great Mistake, that seen Republicans moving to the Right?

It seems once again like lemmings walking off a cliff. The Republicans seem to think that by going towards the Right it gives them a better chance at winning elections. They seem to be in a state of collective delusionalism. While they may think that is the best way, the rest of America thinks the opposite. Will Republicans look back at yet another huge mistake? Could this be due to the lack of leadership?
