How long does it take to recover from pleural effusion?

I had a rather severe case 3.5 months ago where I had almost 3 liters of fluid drained. I feel like I am much more prone to sinus infections and bronchitis than before and am perpetually scared it will return. I also can't run more than 2 miles without pain where the main spot was (used to be an avid runner). Overall, I just feel like my lung capacity is really diminished. Sometimes I still also have a sharp stabbing pain in the region. Is it normal to still be having complications and will I ever return to normal?
